Talk show: Catholic Young People and Homosexuality: An attitude of faith and morality
The Speaker: Sister. Tran Nhu Y Lan, CND
Introduction:
Many Catholics today, especially the young, are confused by the profound divisions of sexuality in modern society. They feel that the Catholic Church’s teaching on sexuality seems strange and unfamiliar with their life.
How to become a sexual mature human being in today? How to behave in front of homosexual people who are friends, relatives…?
Homosexual or transgender people need to brothers and sisters who can be companions of their journey. Perhaps these people also want us to recognize them as brothers and sisters who can bear witness to mankind about God, God who created man and woman and known well their life.
Purpose:
What is homosexuality?
What is the Church’s teaching on this?
What attitude do we know to this issue, how to treat homosexuals properly?
Speaker information:
Sister Elizabeth Tran Nhu Y Lan, Sisters of the Saint of Augustine (Notre Dame), graduated in a medical doctor and a doctorate in moral theology from Boston College, Massachusetts, USA. Currently, Sister Y Lan is teaching at Saigon the Seminary, and various Catholic Institutes at Vietnam.

Talk show: Current Types of Gender & How to recognize
The Speaker: Master – Doctor Lan Hai
Introduction:
In Vietnam society, sex education is one of the sensitive topics that parents often avoid, although in the opening world today there are documents to provide knowledge about this issue. In addition, the Second Vatican Council also proposed to provide children and young people with “an active, cautious, and sensitive education of sexuality”. The Church of Vietnam also has many documents to guide the young people, but it seems that the guides have not been paid attention
Purpose:
Through the workshop, we will discuss and better understand the following issues:
- Types of sexuality today
- Tools to determine the gender of a person.
- What is the LGBT community?
- The Church’s viewpoint on this matter.
Speaker information:
Master – Doctor Lan Hai is currently a lecturer at Tomas Aquino Theological Institute, the Congregations of the Cross and many Theological Institutes across the country. Currently, she is collaborating and in charge of many columns on newspapers and TV show such as ‘Talks Weekends’, ‘Chi duong cho Huu’ on the Sunday Women Newspaper under the pseudonym Doctor Navigator, ‘to Ask and to answer quietly’ on newspaper HCM City and author of the book” Handbook of sex education “,” Glittering with morning dew’, and co-authored other books.

The Course: Developmental psychology – Birth to Adulthood with Applications for Everyday Life
Professor: Father Phuong Dinh Toai, M.I.
Introduction:
Throughout the human life cycle, the body and the mind of humans are developed and changed in common patterns to all human beings. Regarding culture, the major stages of the human life cycle include infancy, toddler years, childhood, age of puberty, adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and senior years.
This course will study these stages to observe the common patterns and to record physical health and psychological tasks. It will give us a way to have a good life. This course will point out some of the conflicts that impede the healthy development from one stage to another. Physical and emotional trauma in one stage of life will affect the following stages. Our spiritual life reveals within us as our active patterns of development. A meaningful spiritual life depends significantly on how a person navigates required tasks in each stage of the life cycle.
Professor information:
Father John Phuong Dinh Toai, a Master of Psychology at Gregorian University, Italy. He is currently the Head of Pastoral Care for People with HIV / AIDS under the Archdiocese of Saigon, the director of Mai Am Mai Tam and the Counselor of Psychotherapy at Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City.
